Who We Are

Started in 1977 by Peter Barnett, PT, DPT, OCS, Suburban has been a physical therapy alternative to institutional and corporate health care settings. Twenty minutes from the Lincoln Tunnel or George Washington Bridge, we offer rehabilitation to the Metropolitan patient community in a park-like setting.

We continue to be a private practice out-patient environment with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Suburban specializes in orthopedic physical therapy, sports medicine, pediatric physical therapy, balance disorders, and TMJ disorders. Selectively, we also have patients with neurological conditions such as brain attacks (strokes), Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis. We offer a full complement of treatment modalities for injuries of the spine, extremities, and TMJ. The patient ages have ranged from 8 weeks to 102 years.

In addition to treating patients daily, the Suburban's staff is involved in our local public, philanthropic, and school communities. We offer educational seminars and various group exercise classes.

Our clinical staff of physical therapist doctors & orthopedic clinical specialists, develop individual treatment programs based on the diagnostic work-up and physical demands of the patient. Suburban continues to address the Department of Health and Human Service's national "Healthy People 2010" program; addressing four of the 10 Leading Health Indicators identified as major public health concerns in the United States: Physical Activity, Overweight and Obesity, Immunization, and Access to Health Care. Emphasis is also placed on patient self-reliance. All patients receive instruction in comprehensive home exercise programs.
